Product Description

If you’ve tasted fresh coriander, it’s likely that you’ve formed an opinion about it. Maybe you love it. Maybe you think it’s like chewing metal shavings. (Maybe you love chewing metal shavings. We won’t judge… much). Luckily, organic ground coriander isn’t nearly as divisive a flavour as its fresh counterpart. The dried herb has a powerful, fruity aroma that boosts the savoury tang of curries, marinades, pickles, and dry rubs. It’s used extensively in Indian, Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines. Whole seed organic coriander is similarly inoffensive to sensitive palates. (Don’t forget to let your picky eater know that the meal they’re scarfing down does, in fact, contain the aromatic herb. Their face will be almost as good as the dish itself!) There’s no controversy here: adding dried organic coriander to your dish leaves even the most metal-averse people asking for more.

How to use organic coriander?

Organic coriander can be cooked, consumed, and used aesthetically. Like most spices, coriander’s uses are dependant on the form it comes in.

Application: food

Organic coriander has two main uses in cooking. It’s a great way to add a savoury twist to your chillies, marinades, and poultry dishes. The aromatic properties of organic coriander can cover up basic cooking mistakes (here’s looking at you, wonky salt shaker lids) and salvage your kid’s first attempts to make the family dinner (you’re going to need to choke it down somehow!). Less well known is coriander’s uses in baking. Organic ground coriander enhances and deepens the buttery flavour of bread, cakes, biscuits, and pastries. Who knows - maybe that’s the secret ingredient to your coworker’s famous apple pies?

Application: other

You’ve come to love coriander. Any metallic associations are a sharp but fading memory. Do you know what else is fading? Your acne! That’s right - organic coriander can be mixed with a pinch of turmeric to create a skincare concoction that will help your skin to feel clean and blemish-free. Its beautiful leaves can also be used as garnishes and decorative greenery among other herbs and plants.

Ingredients

100% Organic Coriander

Country of origin

While better known for their pizza, Italy is also the birthplace of coriander. Also native to parts of Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and Southwestern Asia, coriander is an easy-to-cultivate plant when given the right amount of sun and water. The herb is ancient - it’s been found in ruins as far back as 5,000 B.C. and is mentioned in the bible. (We recommend you avoid eating coriander this old, though; it’s probably lost some of its panache by now).

Storage / Packaging

Organic coriander should be sealed at ambient temperature. The container should be kept in a dry area - and kept out of direct sunlight. When stored correctly in its original box, our dried coriander has a shelf life of 1.5 years from its packaging date.

Although it’s true that all spices will eventually lose their flavour over time, our packaging works to stretch every tasty second of organic coriander’s shelf life. Made out of biodegradable, compostable bags designed to lock in every morsel of flavour, you can rest easy knowing that your ingredients will always taste right. Plus, you can feel great about doing something good for the environment! That certainly deserves a second helping of coriander shortbread…

Complimentary Spices

Organic coriander provides an earthy sweetness that pairs well with a variety of other spices. Because it brings out the natural sweetness of meats and vegetables, it’s a perfect undertone for bolder spices to draw depth from. Some of the best complimentary spices for organic coriander include:

  • Allspice
  • Cinnamon
  • Cumin
  • Garlic
  • Nutmeg
  • Black pepper
  • Thyme
  • Parsley

Organic Coriander Health Benefits

Organic coriander is so commonly used in cooking because it’s thought to be extremely good for you. (It being lip-smackingly delicious is an added bonus). Ground organic coriander has been traditionally used across the globe to treat ailments for generations. Some of its medicinal benefits include:

  • Anti-inflammatory properties found in organic coriander may work to protect your brain’s health.
  • The antimicrobial compounds can also help to fight infections.
  • Organic coriander is rich in immune-boosting antioxidants and may accelerate and promote digestion and gut health.
  • The herb can also help to lower blood sugar.

The buck doesn’t stop there! Organic coriander is still being investigated for its effectiveness in a variety of other areas of medicine. Many exciting new findings have indicated that organic coriander’s medicinal properties are extensive.

While organic coriander’s health benefits have been clearly established, it should be noted that organic coriander is not a replacement for modern medicine. Please make sure to seek professional medical advice from a qualified doctor or other healthcare professionals when looking to treat specific medical ailments.
