Organic Indian Curry Powder 30g
Country of Origin: Various
While the history of curry powder may be kind of a snooze, we promise that its flavour is anything but. A heady mix of herbs and spices, organic curry powder is so much more than just a sauce for rice. Our curry blend is a take on the traditional Indian mix (and goes perfectly with these Indian curry powder recipes!). We’ve turned down the heat and turned up the sweet, making the bold flavour more accessible to everyone. Not sure what to experiment with? Although traditional curries are strictly rice-based, modern twists have gotten… well… interesting is a nice word. Some of the odd and outstanding creations we’ve seen include curried mussels, curried carrot chips, and chicken salad with a curry dressing. Mix it up with this marvellous spice mix - your stomach is the limit.
How to use organic curry powder?
Organic curry powder can be cooked, consumed, and used aesthetically. Like most spices, curry powder’s uses are dependant on the form it comes in.
Organic curry powder is used in, well, curries. It was blended to mesh perfectly with rice. So, that’s it. Curry powder is used to flavour rice.
Of course, that’s not it! An excellent additive to soups, stews, and sauces, organic curry powder is a great all-purpose seasoning. You can use the spice in traditional Indian curry powder recipes, but it also works well in unconventional dishes- like curried deviled eggs. Toast your curry before adding it to your meal for added flavour. Its peppery flavour profile may even prevent your veggies from being pushed around your kids’ plates, although we don’t promise anything! (You may know brussel sprouts won’t kill you, but convincing your progeny might be a whole other story).
Because organic curry powder is a spice blend, there aren’t a lot of the same extra-cooking uses as other spices. However, its pop of colour (and flavour) makes curry powder a great addition to the dinner table. Put it in a fancy container and let your guests feel sophisticated and worldly for using table seasonings other than salt and pepper.
Cardamom, Chilli Powder, Cinnamon & Cloves
Country of origin
Like garam masala, organic curry powder is a spice blend originating from the Indian subcontinent. Curry powder was designed to be - and named to mean - a sauce or soup that pairs well with rice. The spice mix has existed in one form or another for thousands of years, but the Western understanding of what curry is developed somewhere around the 18th century.
Storage / Packaging
Organic curry powder should be sealed at ambient temperature. The container should be kept in a dry area - and kept out of direct sunlight. When stored correctly in its original box, our blended curry powder has a shelf life of 1.5 years from its packaging date.
Although it’s true that all spices will eventually lose their flavour over time, our packaging works to stretch every tasty second of organic curry powder’s shelf life. Made out of biodegradable, compostable bags designed to lock in every morsel of flavour, you can rest easy knowing that your ingredients will always taste right. Plus, you can feel great about doing something good for the environment! That certainly deserves a second helping of coconut-curry ice cream.
Curry powder is kind of a loner. It’s like those twins you knew in school who were nice and polite, but really only wanted to hang out with each other. Because organic curry powder is a blend of numerous spices, it’s usually best to add it into dishes by itself. Finish off whatever you’re cooking with a dash of toasted, organic curry powder and you won’t have to worry about including any other spices.
