Ingredients

Oil 20 mls
Yellow split peas 100 gr
Turmeric 5 gr
Salt to taste
Bay leaves 2 leaves
Coriander powder 5 gr
Water 500 mls
Chopped ginger or paste 1/2 tsp
Chopped tomatoes 1 med size
For Seasing
Cumin seed 5 gr
Chopped fresh coriander leaves 10 gr

Wash the yellow split peas well, drain and set aside. In a pan, heat oil, add the cumin seeds and bay leaves. Add washed split peas
turmeric, salt, coriander powder, chopped ginger and tomatoes. Stir for a couple of minutes. Then add water and let it boil. Simmer and cover it. Boil until the lentils until cooked and tender.
Add freshly chopped coriander leaves Serve with warm rice
